Depending on what sands and aggregates you incorporate, or indeed pigmented limewashes and paints you use and, of course, the method of application and finishing, just look what you can achieve with lime mortars.

From the ‘rustic’ look, the ‘sophisticated’ (lime render applied to brick projections to emulate masonry detailing) to the ‘sublime’ no pun intended! (lime finishes to a 2 and a half straw bale dwelling house).
