Based outside Tullow, Co. Carlow, the Traditional Lime Company has supplied lime and lime mortars to the conservation, restoration and ecological building industries for over twenty years.
Ireland's original supplier of natural hydraulic limes as exclusive agents of Saint-Astier Natural Hydraulic Limes & Otterbein Natural Hydraulic Limes. This is complimented by our Beeck & Aglaia natural paint range. We also stock a full range of associated products including hair and fibres, pozzolans, ochres, pigments, lime washes, riven & sawn lath & wattle.
We provide a full technical back-up service for our products as well as consultancy on all aspects of building conservation and restoration.

GEORGIAN RUIN REVIVED
Edward Byrne of the Traditional Lime Company provided full conservation consultancy to the owners of this Georgian ruin, working closely with their architect Gilbert Stucky. Lme & lime mortars for both interior & exterior work were supplied to this project.
JEREMY IRONS KILCOE CASTLE
Edward Byrne worked with actor Jeremy Irons on the restoration of his 15th century Irish fortress in County Cork. Among the materials supplied were roof slates, flagstones & 27 tonnes of Natural Hydraulic Lime for the external render. Irons recently sought pigments to reinvigorate the unique exterior hue.
NEW BUILD PROJECTS
The Traditional Lime Company has been involved in numerous new building projects where the use of eco methods & materials were a priority. Straw bale houses, hemp builds & energy efficient projects have all been completed with advice & materials from the Traditional Lime Company.
SIGGINSTOWN CASTLE, WEXFORD
Liz & Gordon Jones are working with Edward & the Traditonal Lime Company to fully restore their 15th century castle in Wexford. Edward along with James Grace prepared the green oak timbers for the replacement roof & floors. Read more about this incredible restoration project HERE.
